Tastes in photography have changed. These
days things are much sharper, lower in
contrast, sometimes flat in pastel colours,
retouched, with no depth or perspective and
with a lot of front light. This is very different to
the past. With commercials not having the
budgets and influence they used to and the
MTV age gone, the only area that has
remained and expanded in our everyday
visual world of internet and cable TV,
surprisingly, is fashion photography. Glossy
magazines are more popular than ever and
they are stuffed full of digital retouched and
air brushed digital photography. Don’t
underestimate what an influence that has on
us, and, how we experiment. We support and
imitate it, not consciously, with our own
domestic digital cameras
